Design and implement modern software stack for enterprise web application.

1 Background
Tieto maintains and develops a broad scale of applications and systems, both in terms of functionality and technology. In one of our systems we have a high information flow but the current tools for probing that information is hard and time consuming to use.
2 Purpose
There is a need for a new tool to fast find the right information in the flow with an easy to use web interface. The research should evaluate the components of a modern open source enterprise web application.
3 Assignment
Roughly, the following tasks should be considered.
 Evaluate the present technology for an enterprise web application software stack.
 Create a data model
 Create a prototype of the software stack
 Create a responsive web interface that validates as HTML5 and CSS3.
 Demonstrate the prototype and elaborate alternative solutions pros and cons
4 Competence profile
The student should have good knowledge in the Java platform and be comfortable with development. The student must also have a basic understanding of an enterprise web application software stack. Previous experience with XML parsing and data modeling is a plus. It is also recommended to have some previous experience with version control systems and continuous integration.
