Uppdragsbeskrivning
Within the scope of present applications we wish to explore the possibilities to migrate or adapt enterprise applications to a portlet environment. The research should show what effort is needed to enable present services to be deployed in portlets and to which cost both in effort and technological restrictions.
Roughly, the following tasks should be considered.
Evaluate the present technology platforms.
Create a proof-of-concept on how to enable applications to run in portlet environments.
Estimate the effort needed for a complete migration.
Propose and demonstrate alternative solutions to enable the same services in portlets.
The student should have good knowledge in the Java platform and be comfortable with development. The student must also have a basic understanding in the servlet environment and how applications on servers work. Previous experience with portlet containers and the Struts web framework is a plus. It is also recommended to have some previous experience with version control systems and continous integration.
