Practical Guide

Moving to another country, even for a short period of time, requires much preparation and planning. To help you prepare for your stay in Sweden and at Mid Sweden University we have listed some of the most important things that you need to do.

Before Arrival

Residence Permit

Please note that students from a country outside EU and EEA have to apply for a Residence Permit to study in Sweden. For detailed information about how to obtain a Residence permit, contact your nearest embassy, consulate or the Swedish Migrations Board.  As an EU/EEA citizen you have the right of residence in Sweden and may study without a residence permit.

Accommodation

Housing choices vary from campus to campus, but all student accommodation in Sweden is generally of a high standard. As an admitted international student at Mid Sweden University you can easily book a room on your own, by sending an e-mail to the proprietor of your choice.

Insurance

Prevent unpleasant surprises and make sure you have insurance! Insurance should preferably cover yourself, your property and your accommodation. In Sweden, medical treatment is very expensive without insurance and it is therefore very important that you arrange insurance coverage for your study period.
