Student unions – are run by you and for you

On every campus within Mid Sweden University, there is a student union that looks after your interests as concerns your education and questions related to the social aspects of student life.

The student union endeavours to see to it that you get as good an education as possible, and that your days of study are as good as they can be. This organisation is an organisation of students for students.

Looks after student interests

An important part of the student union work is to see to it that the student influence functions efficiently. In all preparatory and deciding boards and counsils at Mid Sweden University, there are chairs for student representatives. The union is also engaged in dialogues with the municipalities and the local commercial and industrial life, in order to see to it that the students’ life situation is further improved.

Take an active part in the student union – and get new experiences as well as new friends

Through your engagement in the student union, you get the opportunity to broaden your competence and at the same time meet new people.  It may also be an additional qualification for you in a future working life.

There are also programme associations for most of the study programmes at Mid Sweden University. They look after how the programmes work, keep up the contact with the local commercial and industrial life and have some form of social activities.

The membership

Membership in the student union will 1 of July 2010 cease to be mandatory. If you wish to become a member you pay the membership fee to the student union that is active on the campus where you study.

The International Student Committee
The International Student Committee is the branch of the student union that focuses on the well being of the international students at Mid Sweden University.  For instance, the Committee organizes welcome events at the beginning of the semester. During the semester they organize different parties and trips.

They also provides all exchange students at Mid Sweden University with a supporting fellow student. The role of the fellow student varies, but he or she usually meets the exchange students on the arrival day and helps the student get settled in.

Do you want to get in contact with the International Student Committee? Please contact the Student Union at your campus.
