This blog entry is based on an earlier press release on our fan event research.] Our research on pop culture tourism shows that so-called ”fancons” -  events produced by fans - is a rapidly growing, innovative force in event tourism. Successful Film Production in the Sun: Scenery and Studio

[This blog post is in English due to international interest. If you want information in Swedish, please don't hesitate to contact me.]   It has been said that being a researcher is not a just a job, it’s a lifestyle. Most days I tend to agree with that sentiment.   Let me give you an example. During the past week, I went on holiday to the beautiful coastal town Alicante in Spain. On the second day we walked along the waterfront and passed the Alicante Film Office.     http://www.alicantefilmo...

Not to worry, we’re still working on spreading knowledge on Twilight Saga tourism or “Twication™” as we call it. However, with the expected upswing of international tourism to Sweden due to ABBA The Museum in...

[This blog post is in English due to international interest. If you want information in Swedish, please don't hesitate to contact me.]   One of the most rewarding moments as a researcher is when you receive an email from an editor of a scientific journal stating something in the lines of: “The reviewers have now commented on your above paper. I am pleased to say that your paper has been accepted for publication….” .   We just got one of those emails regarding our manuscript “Thirsting for...

IT'S IMPORTANT THEY SAY, BUT WHO'S PICKING UP THE TAB?

[This blog post is in English due to international interest. If you want information in Swedish, please don't hesitate to contact me.]   As researchers of pop culture travels, we are regularly met with practitioners' general agreement that research on tourism in the wake of pop culture phenomena is important. They ask questions like: "Who are these tourists?", "What do they want?", "How can we make them visit our destination?", "How many can we expect?", "How long will it last?", and " Do we...
