Jag är kulturgeograf och efter grundskollärarexamen och magisterexamen vid Uppsala universitet disputerade jag vid Stockholms Universitet 2009 på avhandlingen "Protected Attrations: Tourism and Wilderness in the Swedish Mountain Region", som handlar om upplevelser och syn på landskapet, skyddade områdens sociala värden och om maktrelationer som kommer till uttryck i landskapet.

Jag har huvudsakligen intresserat mig för turism och friluftsliv i perifera och rurala landskap, främst i skyddade områden och i områden med vildmarkskänsla. I flera studier har jag undersökt föreställningar kring begreppen natur och vildmark samt turistiska bilder och föreställningar och dess konsekvenser på platser och människor.

Jag är även intresserad av planerings- och förvaltningsfrågor i landskap med flera markanvändare. Mina forskningsprojekt handlar också om den svenska naturen som resmål för internationella besökare med fokus på resemotiv, plats- och aktivitetsanknytning samt på betydelsen av tillrättaläggning och autenticitet. Jag är också intresserad av enklaviska turismrum med exempel från all-inclusive resande och kryssningsturism.

Teaching and tutoring

Jag undervisar i kulturgeografi vid campus Östersund. Jag har även undervisat i geografi på lärarutbildningen vid Mittuniversitetet och varit gästlärare vid Institutionen för naturgeografi och kvartärgeologi, Stockholms universitet.

Jag är biträdande handledare till forskarstuderande Solene Prince och Lusine Margaryan. Sedan 2013 är jag avdelningschef vid Avdelningen för turismvetenskap och geografi. Under 2009-2013 har jag arbetat med ett flertal pedagogiska utvecklingsprojekt.
