Peak Innovation Lab

The Peak Innovation Lab supports SWSRCs activities as regards mechanical production/construction for the purposes of research and product development. National teams and athletes can also be helped with prototyping and the development of various types of equipment. Adjustments, fitting and calibration of various testing equipment for measuring pressure, forces and acceleration are also carried out by the lab. The PI Lab will also be used by students and other people working on development projects, or degree theses specialising in the development of sporting equipment.

The Peak Innovation Lab is located in the cellar below SWSRC in the D building of Campus Östersund. The Swedish Ski Association has its waxing rooms and stores for the Swedish team right next door. Apart from the resulting access to cross-country skiing equipment and tools, there is also a machine park for prototyping that includes:

• Combo lathe/milling machine. 500 mm distance between centres, with additional tools for cutting
• Bandsaw
• Reverse engineering equipment
• Bench bandsaw
• Drill press
• Benchtop grinder
• Belt sander
• Drills
• Jigsaw
• CAD and modelling programs
• General tools for threading, gluing, sawing, bending, soldering, measuring, woodwork and so on.
