International students are welcome to apply to our international programmes taught in English. We also offer all exchange students, who are connected to one of Mid Sweden University’s partner universities, a wide range of single courses taught in English—both at Bachelor and Master level.

Undergraduate studies – the first level

The first level is equivalent to the undergraduate level. Mid Sweden University offers international applicants a number of international Bachelor programmes taught in English. Read more about these programmes here. 
First level single courses taught in English are also offered to exchange students connected to one of Mid Sweden University’s partner universities. If you are not currently studying at one of our partner universities, then you are not able to apply for single courses taught in English. Read more about exchange studies here. 

Master’s studies – the second level

The second level is the advanced level and it is equivalent to the Master’s level. Mid Sweden University offers international students a variety of two-year Master’s programmes. Read more about our Master’s Degree programmes here.
As an exchange student, you can also apply for single courses at the Master’s level or the one-year Master’s programme. Read more about exchange studies here.

Doctoral studies – The third level

The third level is equivalent to postgraduate studies. Postgraduate programmes conclude with the award of a Licentiate Degree or a PhD. The PhD is the most advanced academic qualification awarded in Sweden, and it is awarded after four years of postgraduate studies (240 higher education credits). A Licentiate Degree is awarded after two years of full-time study (120 higher education credits).

Your commitment

As a student at Mid Sweden University you are expected to actively seek knowledge and set your own targets. Nobody will tell you when or exactly what you should read or study; this demands a great effort from you as a student in higher education. It also implies being responsible for obtaining course material before the beginning of every course, such as textbooks and other written materials.

As a student at Mid Sweden University you need to commit a lot of your time to your studies in order to succeed. To just attend classes is not enough. You will also participate in group work, write reports and study independently. It is generally suggested that full-time students should devote 35–40 hours a week to their studies. This will of course depend on your previous knowledge of the subject and the efficiency of your study method.
