Background
I have a multidisciplinary background in Material Science, Chemistry and Physics. In 2010 I received a Bachelor of Science in Bio- and Nanotechnology from South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences in Iserlohn, Germany. Subsequently I started studying within the Programme of Master by Research in Pulp and Paper Technology at Mid Sweden University. In 2012 I finished my postgraduate studies and received a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering. Afterwards I started my research studies in Engineering Physics and defended my Licentiate Thesis with the title ”Paper-based Supercapacitors” in 2014. Meanwhile I continue my doctoral studies on supercapacitors and energy storage materials.
Area of interest
Nanotechnology, Material Science, Supercapacitors, Graphene, Graphite, Nanocellulose
Current research
My research interests are in the area of supercapacitors and carbon-based nanomaterials for energy storage applications. During my doctoral studies I am conducting research within the KEPS project, which deals with Kinetic Energy Storage in Paper-based Supercapacitors. Within this project we are developing a method for the inexpensive large-scale production of graphene and nanographite by mechanical exfoliation of graphite. These highly conducting nanoparticles are further used to prepare electrodes for electric double-layer capacitors. I focus on the production and testing of various electrode materials and electrolytes. Furthermore I am focussing on nanocellulose and its use in supercapacitor electrodes.
