MIUN card for employees
The MIUN card is your ID card at the university during your employment. It is also the entrance card for all doors with contactless card readers. As an employee, where you work will determine which areas of the campus you have access to. Should you require access to other areas, please contact the facility management office of your campus.
Functions of the MIUN card:
University ID
A valid MIUN card is the ID card employees of Mid Sweden University use for the campus area. The card also grants you entrance to the premises and gives you access to the functions and services of the university.
Entrance card
The MIUN card is your entrance card for the black card readers and it grants entrance to the parts of the premises you are allowed to enter, which is determined by where you work.
ID for library use
The MIUN card may also be used as a valid ID card when you borrow books manually at Mid Sweden University (bar code on the back).
Ordering your MIUN card
To be able to order your MIUN card, you must be an employee at Mid Sweden University or work for Mid Sweden University as a contractor. A valid MIUN card is the ID card employees of Mid Sweden University use for the campus area. The card also grants you entrance to the premises and gives you access to the functions and services of the university.
How to order your MIUN card:
- Order your MIUN card and have your picture taken directly at the service point, following the instructions. At the service station, please log in with your account valid for the student portal. Click here to see how you use your Personnel password of the student portal.
- Approve of the terms and conditions of the MIUN card
- Choose a PIN code
- Have your picture taken and collect your MIUN card at the reception no earlier than the next weekday. Make sure to bring an ID.
Should you encounter any difficulties, please contact the facility manager´s office of your campus.
If you do not have an account that gives you access to the student portal, you cannot apply for a MIUN card. In that case, please contact Helpdesk:

External staff, contractors etc. who work for Mid Sweden University but do not have an account, please contact the facility manager of the campus to get a “Campus Card”. The Campus Card is an entrance card and can be ordered and printed here: XYZ. Please bring it to the facility manager's office to collect the card.
Service point
Order /administrate your MIUN card at the service point.
When we launch the new MIUN card at Campus Östersund, we will place a service point in the G building, next to the Career Plaza. Please log in with your account valid for the student portal. Here, you approve of the terms and conditions, enter your PIN code, have your picture taken and receives information about where to collect your MIUN card.
After you have collected your MIUN card, you can get a block put on your card, change your PIN code or update the validity period of the card here.
The service point in Östersund can be found in the G building, next to the Career plaza. More service points will be added at the other campuses during the implementation period.
Updating validity period
The MIUN card is based upon your employment and the validity period can be found on the front of the card. As a permanent employee, the validity period is two years at a time. Contract employees will have a validity period based on the limit of their contract. When your contract is prolonged, you can update the validity period at the nearest service point. The card will function as an entrance card as long as the card is valid. After that, you will have to update the card at the service point. You can do so within a year.
Getting a block put on your card
If you lose your MIUN card or if it is stolen, you must get a block put on it immediately. You can do so in the Student portal or at one of the service points. There will be one service point per campus. The only service point at the moment is in Östersund in the G building. The staff at the reception or at the facility manager's office can also help you.
External contractors with a Campus card need to turn to the facility manager's office for help to get a block put on their cards.
