Student life
Mid Sweden University has three campuses: Härnösand, Sundsvall and Östersund. They differ in character and partially in the course programmes offered.
The city Sundsvall is located about 400 kilometres north of Stockholm and with its approximately 96 000 inhabitants, it is one of the biggest cities in Northern Sweden. Campus Sundsvall is situated a short walk from the centre of the city. It has lovely scenery, with leafy groups of trees and a beautiful promenade along the river “Selångeersån.” “Åkroken”—the heart of campus—is built as a city within the city, with alleys and squares, bridges and landing-stages.
The city Östersund, with approximately 60 000 inhabitants, is located about 180 kilometres to the northwest of Sundsvall. Campus Östersund, inaugurated in 2002, is situated a few minutes walk from the main shopping street in the centre of the city. The new city district with the university, which formerly was a regiment, has been carefully renovated, built out, and transformed into a welcoming campus.
The city Härnösand, with approximately 25 000 inhabitants, is located about 450 kilometres north of Stockholm. Campus Härnösand is a small, pleasant campus, which offers nearness to everything. You easily move between the lecture halls, the cafeterias, the students’ union, and the library.
