I recieved my PhD at the Royl Institute of Technology, KTH, in 1979 in the field of casting of metals, and after a post doc at MIT, I established a research group at KTH working with crystal growth of semiconductor materials. In 1991 I moved to Sundsvall and since 2000 I am professor in materials engineering.
Area of interest
My research has basically been focussed on the manufacturing of materials from liquid to solid involving processes such as casting, crystal growth and welding, but in later years an expansion towards the development of materials for applications in forest industry processes has evolved. An important part of the reseach has been in the field of microgravity with experiments performed in space to study effects of reduced gravity on the solidification process.
Current research
Currently projects are running in the fields of DC-casting of aluminium alloys, development of wood chipping tools and refing of silicon for solar cells involving microgravity experiments in the space station, ISS.
