New engineering education in automation

Mid Sweden University is strengthening its bachelor courses, including a brand new program, Automation Engineer, which will start in autumn 2014. More flexible forms of education will also attract more students to engineering courses.

Training for automation engineer starts in autumn 2014 and is a three year program based at Sundsvall with the opportunity to both campus and distance learning. There is a high demand for skills in areas such as process industry and energy production. The program is although one of the few university programs in the field.

- There is a high demand for automation engineers, and we want the students to be employable immediately after graduation. It will include contact with real problems and situations during training which is conducted in project format, something that has been very useful in working life, says Mikael Bylund, program director.
