What are ISBN, ISSN and ISRN?

The International Standard Book Number (ISBN) is a code that uniquely identifies a book edition. Earlier ISBN consisted of 10 digits but since 2007 it consists of 13. ISSN is a code with 8 digits that identifies periodical publications such as journals, magazines or a series of reports. ISRN is sometimes used to identify isolated reports in a report series.
