Reading resource room, Sundsvall
The Reading resource room is available for students with visual or print impairments. The computers in the room are equipped with special programs designed to help you read and write.
The Reading resource room is located in the N Building in the Learning resource center (LRC) on floor 2. The computers are bookable and available 24 hours a day.

Computer software in the Reading resource room
ABBYY FineReader
Software that creates searchable and editable electronic files from scanned documents, PDF files and digital photographs. ABBYY FineReader allows you to unlock data in documents and pictures and transform them into manageable and accessible information.
Amis
To be able to read Daisy books on a computer, you need a reading program. Amis can be downloaded for free.
Dolphin EasyProducer
A program which easily produces speech synthesized Daisy books from a text. It converts Word documents into a structured Daisy books.
Gustavas ordböcker
Swedish and English thesauri. Includes words, expressions, synonyms, examples, phrases and foreign words. In these thesauri you can find a word even if you misspell it.
Saida
Saida is a program which suggests words as you are writing. With a simple keystroke you can choose a word from a suggestion list.
Screen Ruler
Allows you to enhance and change the contrast of the text by dragging a magnifying strip over it.
SpellRight
An English spelling program.
Stava Rex
A Swedish spelling program. The program is developed for those with dyslexia, but is also used by those with other reading disabilities.
Textviewer
Program for reading e-text.
Zoomtext
A magnification program with magnification from 1,25 to 36 times. Text smoothing for all colours. Good settings for mouse and cursor. Texts read with speech synthesis.
