Fear and management of bears and wolves

Skriv ut 15 okt oktober 2014

This research is concerned with how knowledge about human fear of bears and wolves can guide decision about wildlife management actions.

This project is in fact not a single project, but more of a cross disciplinary research group hosting different research projects concerning human fear of large carnivores (with the focus on bear and wolf) and how it relates to acceptance for management actions on these animals.

The results presented by the research group do not only contribute to the progress of knowledge in the scientific sense, but do also inform government administrations about management action.

The cross-disciplinary approach with environmental psychology, emotion psychology, wildlife ecology and biology is presently the only one of the kind worldwide. The research by the group is based on questionnaires, interviews, and experiments, with experience, behaviors, and physiology as dependent measures.
