The master program in Political Science, offered both at the campus of Sundsvall and the campus of Östersund, gives you the skills to perform advanced social analysis, relevant both for the public as well as the private sector. You will gain insights in organisational changes and develop your ability to identify and analyse complex political issues. The program is focused on the analytical perspectives of political behaviour, public administration and organisational analysis.

The one-year master program in Political Science provides in-depth knowledge and relevant analytical tools within several of the sub-fields of the discipline. The program includes courses dealing with issues related to the interplay between citizens and the public sphere, public administration, organisational analysis, and research methods. The program concludes with a thesis of 15 credits. Throughout the program emphasis is given to independent scientific analysis of political processes of various kind.

Within the field of organisation analysis the difference between institutions and organisations, as well as organisational changes are problematized. Political behaviour gives in-depth knowledge of how citizens relate to the political system and its main actors, and public administration emphasises various aspects of political processes and decision-making at the local level. The skills gained from these courses can be applied and further developed in the thesis that each student writes during the end of the second semester.

Entry requirements

Degree of Bachelor (at least 180 Credits), including at least 90 credits inthe field of Political Science and a written thesis (essay) of at least 15 credits

Proven language proficiency in English (English course A), for example shown from one of the following international English tests:
- TOEFL with a minimum score of 530 on paper based test and not below 4.0 on the TWE
- TOEFL with a minimum score of 72 on internet based test and not below 17 on the TWE
- IELTS Academic Training with a minimum overall score of 5.5 and a minimum score on the specific parts of at least 5.0
