Risk, power and governance
Risk, power and governance focus on how risks are constructed in relation to normative discourses and power-structures in society including how risk reducing measurements aimed toward predefined vulnerable groups can be understood in the light of class, ethnicity and gender. Hence, definitions of risk and risk communication can serve as power techniques expressed in discourses and practices as well as being part of the governance of society.
This is the most recent development in risk research, even if the ideas and thoughts are close to several RCR researchers’ previous interest and research. It is developed in close collaboration with researchers at the Forum for Gender Studies (FGV).
