Mid Sweden University Higher Seminar on Esotericism from Antiquity to Modern Times.
In the Study of religions at Mid Sweden University we have established this online seminar in order to build a unique research environment across disciplinary and national borders. We discuss research on esotericism in a broad meaning in past and present. The idea is to provide an environment in which scholars get their work scrutinized by leading experts. The ambition is also to raise new research questions, in order to organize conferences that lead to cutting edge publications.
It is an online seminar. By internet connection and using a headset we talk in real-time. The regular meetings hopefully help us to influence each other and formulate new research questions out of which new theoretical perspectives may evolve. We welcome participants with at least bachelor’s degree. We welcome work in progress, suggestions for interesting literature that we can discuss etc.

PhD candidate Paul Linjamaa, Lund University presents work in progress "A Valentinian View on Emotions: Stoic influence on the Tripartite Tractate”.

Matthew Twigg, PhD candidate of Oxford University, presents his research on the toll-collectors of The Apocalypse of Paul, Nag Hamadi Codex V. Dr. Michael Kaler, University of Toronto-Mississauga will introduce the discussion.
