Everything wants to be connected. Enter the programme and shape the new boundaries in computing. The studies combine theoretical and practical components with a view to the hands on experience demanded in the computer industry, a significant portion of the programme is devoted to practical software and hardware design experiments and prototyping. Theoretical knowledge and engineering skills are acquired in Computer Systems and Communication Networks, and Distributed Systems and Machine Learning.

The programme provides students with a broad foundation in information technology (IT), and an in-depth understanding of computer data communication and modern networking. It includes courses in distributed systems and algorithms, wireless networking, software development, data mining and visualization. The computer networks concentration courses provide students with a comprehensive understanding of network design and implementation, network performance analysis and management, network security, and the latest networking technology. The thesis project can be performed at a company, at a research facility or at the university.

The programme is designed to empower students with extensive knowledge and hands-on experience to analyze, design, procure, manage, and implement cutting-edge computer networking solutions and technologies.

After the program

A degree from Mid Sweden University constitutes an excellent foundation for a successful international career. Our graduates are employed in many companies, both local and international, and they have taken on a wide variety of tasks. The jobs that many our graduates take include positions as hardware/software developers and application analysis/development engineers, telecommunications network engineers or research and development engineers. As their careers progress, they assume positions as design team leaders, hardware/software architects or consultants, and many have progressed to management positions in R&D departments. Others have opted for academic careers, continued their study in order to pursue a PhD.
