If there are more applicants fulfilling the entry requirements than available places, a selection has to be made. Below you will find information about how the selection process is conducted.
Selection for first cycle programmes (undergraduate)
An applicant, for a first cycle programme offered by Mid Sweden University, who applies on time and fulfills the entry requirements for the applied programme will recieve a merit rating which is based on the student's grades from upper secondary studies.

Minimum merit rating = 10.0

Maximum merit rating = 22.5
Based on the merit rating they receive, applicants are placed in ranked order, from the highest merit rating to the lowest. The higher the merit rating they have, the better chance they have of being offered a place in the programme they have applied to.
Selection for second cycle programmes (Master)
An applicant for a second cycle programme offered by Mid Sweden University, who applies on time and fulfils the entry requirements for the applied programme, will receive a merit rating. The merit rating is based on the number of credits earned by the applicant.

Maximum merit rating = 285 credits
Based on the merit rating they receive, applicants are placed in ranked order, from the highest merit rating to the lowest. The higher the merit rating an applicant has, the better chance he or she has of being offered a place in the programme applied to.
Alternative selection criteria

Selection among late applicants
For late applicants, the selection is based on the arrival date of the application. If there is a waiting list, the late applicants are placed on this list after the applicants who applied before the deadline. For information about application deadlines go to

What are my chances of being admitted?
Please note that as the number of applicants for each programme and the merit rating of these applicants changes from term to term, it is impossible to say what merit rating is needed to be offered a place in a specific programme.
Reserves
Most of our international programmes do not have guaranteed admission. This means that if there are more applicants who fulfil the entry requirements than there are admission places a selection has to be made. Some of the applicants will be admitted and some will be placed on a waiting list (reserves).
If you are placed on the waiting list you can see your waiting list number in your notification of selection results at universiytadmissions.se. Please note that it is the department responsible for the programme who decides on admitting students from the waiting list (reserves).
