Why did you choose to study here at Mid Sweden University?

I first came as an exchange student from Beijing Jiaotong University and decided to continue my master study here. Studying abroad has always been my dream and Sweden is a magic land, not only because of the Noble Prize but also for the well established social system and many successful companies, like ABB, Volvo, SAAB, IKEA, H&M etc.

Tell us a little about the Campus.

The campus in Sundsvall is not large but very beautiful. Classrooms, library, labs and other facilities have a very high standard so studying here is really an enjoyment.

Describe your studies.

My major is Electronics Design and the teaching focuses more on practical skills rather than literature studies which are just what I am fascinated with. You can choose courses that interest you and get help and advice from your supervisor. Through the practical work you will improve your problem solving ability which will give you an advantage when you look for a job on engineering area.

I also appreciate the independent study and the flexible time schedule. It gives me space to develop my own ideas. The teachers are friendly and always available and there is plenty of opportunities for asking your own questions.

Would you recommend other international students to study here?

Yes, not only the great labs and equipment that are always open to you, but also the course follows the newest technology. You study with the most advanced techniques and instruments here which make it easy get insight into the requirements of different companies.

Where do you live?

I live in a student accommodation right next to the campus. The location is perfect, just across the street from the university and about ten minutes walk from the city center.

What do you appreciate about Sundsvall?

Sundsvall is a big city in the northern Sweden, but quiet and beautiful. Here you can go shopping in the city center within 10 minutes' walk from the Campus. I also don't worry about the winter since skiing gives me energy. Here the quiet lifestyle makes you enjoy the charmingly simple and serene lifestyle compared with a big city. If you like to party, there are many pubs and clubs in city center.

I have been to France, Germany, Italy, Finland and also places in Sweden, for example the two other campuses Härnösand, Östersund, Stockholm, Goteborg and a northern town Abisco. Traveling gives you a chance to experience different life. I strongly recommend Abisco in winter, which is a small town in the very north of Sweden. It is also a famous northern light observing point.
