Mid Sweden University offers a 3-year Bachelor’s degree programme in industrial design and a 2-year international Master’s degree programme in industrial design – Design for all. We also offer the online course Design of Packages Easy to Handle.
The Bachelor’s degree programme in industrial design is a three-year undergraduate study programme. During the first year you will acquire basic tools needed to develop your skills in sketching, working with form, using computers in your work, communication, art and creativity. The second year includes theoretical subjects such as design methodology, ergonomics, production and construction methods, and environmentally compatible product development. The third year consists of in-depth studies in design methodology as a part of various collaborations with the Swedish industry. During the final semester of the third year, the students will carry out their degree project in collaboration with an external company or organization.
The International Master’s Programme in Design for All, 120 credits, is a 2-year international Master’s degree programme. The programme targets students who would like to be a part of a creative development of human and sustainable design solutions. We are looking for students who are curious and have a keen interest in developing our living space, with high ethical and aesthetic ambitions. You will learn how to work with innovative design of products, environments, systems and services based on a Design for All perspective.
The programme Furniture Making and Building Crafts has three specializations: upholstery, cabinet making and building conservation. It is the only university level study programme in Sweden that focuses on the cultural environments created by craftsmen. This study programme is located in Kramfors.
Industrial Design BA (A), Design of Packages Easy to Handle, 15 credits, primarily targets designers and packaging developers. By studying the needs of the elderly and people with different types of impairments, you will learn what to think about to create packaging that is easy to handle.
