"ABUEL (abuse against elderly in Europe)"

This project is based on a European survey (www.abuel.org) with 4,467 older persons aged 60-84 years (women/men) in 7 European countries (i.e. Germany, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Portugal, Spain and Sweden).

One main aim was to describe abuse by type, frequency and severity and correlates.

Karolinska Institutet and the Departments of Public Health and Psychology at MIUN are involved for Sweden. Sweden is the co-ordinating partner. The project has published several peer-reviewed articles, conferences and books, and more are in the pipeline.
