Brigadiergeneral Lena Hallin joined the Swedish Air Force in 1980 –  the first time women were allowed to enter the Swedish Armed Forces as potential officers. Brigadier Hallin served for many years within air surveillance and command and control, mainly at Jämtlands Air Base in Östersund. She also, in 2005, became the last commander at the airbase until it was closed down.

Brigadier Hallin has at different times served at the Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters, and also for a short period in the Swedish Ministry of Defence.

In 2007 she became commander at the Armed Forces Command and Control Regiment,  a unit that supports many capabilities within the Armed Forces, in areas such as command and control, liaison, electronic warfare, psychological operations, meteorology and oceanography.

In 2011 Brigadier Hallin took up the position as the Swedish Defence Attaché to the United Kingdom, based in London. 

In October 2013 she became Head of C4 ISR in the Swedish Armed Forces. 

Brigadier Hallin has a degree in management in governmental organizations from Stockholm School of Economics.

During 2008-2011 she was chairman of a study in psychological operations in the Swedish Armed Forces.
