CRIINFO - Critical Information Systems
The name of our research group is CRIINFO (Critical information); a name that refers to the connection of our research to critical information. Critical information is highly dependent on context, time and place. Critical information is governed by the needs of the potential users, and should be of high enough quality to meet its purpose. Critical information is closely connected to the consequences the lack of information could have for the individuals, groups, organizations and society who need it. That critical information is accessible to the different target groups in need of it is vital.
Distributed ways of working
Today, many organizations work in completely or partially distributed ways. This way of working brings possibilities as well as challenges. Traditional methods and tools are truly challenged. Our research group focuses on research questions aiming to contribute to the understanding of how these changes influence, communication and information, technology, collaboration and learning.
Our prioritized areas are technology enhanced learning and virtual collaboration, but we are also involved in research that could be described as more general informatics research, which is connected to the Bachelor’s programme in informatics that we offer. The contexts where we perform our studies range from industry (technical information), crisis exercises and crisis communication to higher education.
Examples of research projects:
- Identifying intangible benefits of technical information as a way to diminish knowledge boundaries
- Using distributed scrum for supporting online community
- Evaluation of community building in crisis exercises
- Populating the boundary of e-learning
- Taking a holistic perspective on technical communication and Lean
