Sandra Wall-Reinius
My interests are within the field of landscape research and political ecology; mainly wilderness, nature/culture, nature conservation issues. I examine the social construction of nature, the implications of wilderness for place and people, as well as the role and importance of place/landscape. I have conducted research on matters relating to social equity, specifically injustice and power relations when it comes to the politics of landscape. Theoretically, I place myself within the political ecology/critical geography paradigms, interested in the centre-periphery framework, dependency theory, and neocolonialism. My geographic area of interest has been on northern Sweden and relates very much to the mountainous rural and peripheral regions.
My research projects include: studies of landscapes, attitudes of various stakeholders in the context of conserving wilderness areas and establishing national parks; planning, management, and policy issues, recreational trends, nature-based tourism, and research on nature-based entrepreneurs, as well as on enclave tourism.
