The circle is completed for Balansa

From research to market. Balansamodellen, an innovation developed by researchers at Karlstad University, has now come full circle for utilization in that company Cojn Balansa opens its doors for business, which is based entirely on the model.

Balansamodellen is an innovation that is rooted in humanistic research at Karlstad University, and has been developed in collaboration between the Centre for Gender Research and local employers in Värmland. The model is a management tool that aims to increase business and employee's ability to balance work and personal life. It includes for example tools for management and control, participation, communication, division of tasks and responsibilities.

Now the Balansamodellen taken the leap to the market, and is the focus of business of the company Cojn Balansa.

- The model is the catalyst of the business, says Mike Helber, president of Cojn Balansa. We have seen the effects it can have in the companies - the staff feel better, sick leave goes down and you create a completely different dialogue and a better ability to find your way through change. We have spent much of the spring to teach the model to our consultants, and we are very positive.

10 years normal time from idea to market
Cecilia Nahnfeldt, former lecturer at Karlstad University, now the director of the Swedish Church Research, has devoted ten years to develop the model.

- It is quite normal time for a social innovation to achieve from the idea stage to market, she says. It is also a question of timing: we got a new law on social work March 31, which of course has helped to increase interest. It is of course extremely fun and exciting to work even come here. It is a good company that has taken over the model - they are already established, understand what it is about and are competent. I will continue to be active, because I share responsibility for development and is a senior advisor and partner in the company.

Innovation support given to her by the university and Innovation Office Fyrklövern has been invaluable, she says.

- Without it we would not be here today. Scientists rely heavily on such an environment, and places licensbanken.se have been invaluable as a showcase. There is much research that would otherwise not get such exposure.

An innovation traveling in other words, completed the full circle - from research to market.
