Archival science and practice is central to effective and trusted management of information in all types of organizations and increasingly, beyond organizational borders, in collaborative e-services and cloud storage. It focuses on managing and preserving records, together with metadata about the context of their creation. This ensures that records and information are authentic and consequently can be trusted to provide evidence of the transactions that have created them. The research aims of this group are to:

  • Investigate methods for the development of models and implementation of strategies that will support standards-compliant, efficient digital information management, both for current business needs and long-term preservation and access.
  • Study the societal and organizational function of records and recordkeeping practices.
  • Contribute to theory development.
