Can researchers and practitioners understand each other? Can we cooperate? Ideas, myths and truths about how we see each other and how we overcome barriers to cooperation. This panel/session provides insights into successful cooperation but also an understanding about the difficult path to get there. Organized by the Swedish Contingencies Agency (MSB).

Per Sundström, Head of Research at the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB)
Per Sundström is since Jan 2016 Head of Knowledge development and Research, but has been with MSB since 2012. Within this section there is a number of activities all aiming at producing new knowledge or basis for decisions within Societal security. The section is also responsible for MSBs Research funding, with an annual budget of approximately 115 million SEK. Per has previous experience from the Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI) and the Ministry of Defence. Per has a doctoral degree at The Royal institute of Technology (KTH, Stockholm) from 2005 within the area of innovation and product development.

Annika Carlsson-Kanyama, Associate Professor, Strategic Sustainability Studies
Annika Carlsson Kanyama has PhD in natural resource management and currently work at KTH as a researcher and docent. She carries out research with relevance to climate change adaptation, urban agriculture and sustainable consumption patterns.
Alexander Cedergren, Associate senior lecturer, Division of Risk Management and Societal Safety, Lund university
Alexander Cedergren, PhD, is an Associate senior lecturer at the Division of Risk Management and Societal Safety at Lund University, Sweden. His main research interests include risk and vulnerability assessment and critical infrastructure resilience. He is affiliated to Lund University Centre for Risk Assessment and Management (LUCRAM) and Lund University Centre for Critical Infrastructure Protection (CenCIP).
Lina Ringberg, Coordinator of Disaster Risk Reduction, City of Malmö
Lina Ringberg works at the City Office Department of Societal Safety and Risk Management in the city of Malmö, Sweden. Lina has a Bachelor in Social Science with a specialisation on International crisis and conflict management. As a DRR, disaster risk reduction coordinator, the focus is both on prevention, preparedness and crisis management. As a DRR coordinator Lina has a broad network, cooperating with researchers among others.
Mirja Törnquist, Environmental engineer at the municipality of Gävle
Mirja Törnquist works at the Department of Spatial Planning at the Municipal Administration for City Planning, mainly with sustainable urban planning. She holds a MSc in Environmental and Water Engineering from Uppsala University, and a Bachelor degree in Education from University of Gävle.
