Automated Forest Monitoring
Forests are an important natural resource and regulator of the climate. Deforestation is a critical problem. Furthermore, pollution to forest environments has a negative impact on this resource. Monitoring of such external influences and the current state of the forest environment (as well as temporal variations) is a first step to understand and initiate appropriate actions.
Fight or Flight – Climate Stand or Climate Run!
Based around two specific meteorological issues, costal erosion and inland flooding, both associated with extreme weather events, teams will develop solutions and scenarios around how Ireland should prepare to adapt to these apparent changes. Should we fight or should we flight?
Indoor Environment Supervision System
Knowledge about the status of the environment inside of a room lead to knowledge about uncomfortable or dangerous situations regarding the concentration of smoke, oxygen, laudness or other influences. To watch limits and react if neccesary is a contribution for a sustainable development of livestile.
The Environmental Game in Forests
The use of natural resources includes taking many different values into account, reflecting the three different aspects of sustainability; economy, environment and social values.
The Internet of Things
The Internet of things (IoT) is a computing concept that describes a future where everyday physical objects will be connected to the Internet and will be able to identify themselves to other devices.
Successfull UX
How to map user needs and discover business opportunities? Where do user needs meet business goals? How do you uncover users’ frustrations and desires to create a great product? From this perspective, the UX group will look at all other projects of the summer university and decide whether the teams are making a product that is both the best solution to the “problem” AND the most profitable.
STS- Sustainable Transport Strategies
This project aims to sensitize students to sustainability issues when designing a system. Given is a simple task like in the real world. This could be like moving something/someone from a point A to a point B. This is widely used in the industrial and economic fields: transportation of good, of people, of equipments etc.
