Anna Hübner

Bakgrund

Before joining the doctoral programme at the Department of Economics, Geography, Law and Tourism here in Östersund, I graduated from the University of Aalborg with a MA in Tourism Studies, and from the University of Brighton with a BA in International Hospitality Management. In my theses, I looked at the destination image of Greenland and the Arctic as well as the influence of media on perceptions of climate change on the island of Martinique. My hospitality background made it easy to explore the world, but I spent the past decade living in Central Vietnam.

Forskning

A summer job with a small hotel on the Eastern side of Greenland some 16 years ago sparked my interest in the implications of climate change on tourism. I find it fascinating to examine how people see the world and how tourism or being a tourist come into play when it comes down to perceiving concrete impacts of climate change and responding to these. In the scope of my PhD thesis, I will explore the influence of temporality on risk perceptions of climate change in the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula in the North-Eastern Baltic sea coast of Germany.
