Courses for Exchange Students
The study system at Mid Sweden University is very different from many exchange students are used to. Therefore, it is essential that students make sure to read all information carefully when selecting courses.
Here, students usually take courses consecutively, which means that students take one course at a time. The semester is divided into four periods of 5 weeks each. Exams are not given at the end of the semester, but rather at the end of each course. When combining courses there are different aspects to consider e.g., study pace, workload, and period. By doing so, you are more likely to achieve a satisfactory study load and suitable course selection during the exchange.
- Choose courses from the same campus. The campuses are located 180 km apart so it’s not possible to commute.
- Check the entry requirements. To be able to take a course you must meet the entry requirements, you can find these in the syllabus.
- Choose enough courses for the whole semester (30 credits). If you do not study full-time, you may not be eligible for student housing or a residence permit.
- Be aware of study pace! You cannot combine courses so that you have a study pace of more than 100%
- Choose courses in your nominated subject. Even though it is technically possible to apply for any of the courses in the list, applications to courses in subjects where there is no agreement with your department may not be accepted.
