Aim
The course aims to provide students with a high degree of autonomy in identifying scientific problems in the field of archival and information science, to independently conduct research and to present the findings in a written thesis and orally in a seminar.
Course objectives
After completing the course the student should be able to:
- Independently identify, analyze and process a problem in archival and information science
- Select and describe appropriate theory and a method for the problem
- Write a thesis that meets scientific criteria
- Orally present their knowledge achieved in the subject in front of colleagues.
Content
The thesis entails that the student should independently plan, conduct and write a thesis on a study in a subject area in Archives and Information Science associated with the education program.
Entry requirements
60 Credits at Bachelor's or Master's level in Archives and Information Science, including the courses Development of Theory and Research Design, Thesis Project I and Thesis Project II.
Selection rules and procedures
The selection process is in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance and the local order of admission.
Teaching form
This independent work will be carried out under the supervision of a qualified teacher. The supervisor and the student will plan the work together at the beginning of the project. The outcome of the work will be presented in a seminar and a written thesis.
Examination form
A written thesis and an oral seminar presentation of the completed work, which fulfills the learning objectives.

Grading system
Seven-grade scale, A, B, C, D, E, Fx and F. Fx and F represent fail levels.
