Aim
This course explores issues in designing systems for recordkeeping that support current and future needs of business and users, comply with industry and professional standards and meet the requirement to preserve records for the long-term.
Course objectives
On completion of this course students will be able to:
- identify user and functional requirements for recordkeeping systems;
- design for compliance with current industry standards;
- develop strategies for user support; and
- consider the needs of future users of archival records.

- Identification of functional and user requirements for digital recordkeeping systems
- Specification, design and implementation of recordkeeping functionality in business systems,
- Design for transfer of archival records from agency to agency; agency to archive and archive to user

Entry requirements
Bachelor's degree in any subject.
Proven language proficiency in English, for example shown from one of the following international English tests:
- TOEFL with a minimum score of 550 on a paper-based test, or 213 on a computer-based test.
- IELTS with a minimum overall score of 6.0 and a minimum score on the specific parts of at least 5.0.

The selection process is in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance and the local order of admission.

Online group discussions using appropriate current technology
Examination form
Assessment will be by written assignments.
Grading system
Seven-grade scale, A, B, C, D, E, Fx and F. Fx and F represent fail levels.

This course is open to students who are
- EU citizens; OR
- enrolled at an appropriate level in a university with which Mid Sweden University has a partner agreement.
