Firoz Shah

I am a Research Engineer within the department NDH and support the research and instrumentations within the EcoChemistry-group. The role also includes student project supervision as well as, coordinating with other research engineers within the group for various chemical and experimental analysis.
I am in charge of various laboratory instruments such as HPLC, LC-QTOF, LECO CHN Elemental analyzer, while also working as a laboratory technician for GC-MS and ICP-MS instruments and analysis.
In addition, I have laboratory management responsibility and help co-workers with laboratory issues, instrument problems and laboratory etiquettes.

As a research engineer, I run various research projects from food production, fermentation, material development, remediation experiment etc.

Bakgrund

I have a research background in Microbiology/mycology, fungal chemistry (enzymes, acids and metabolites), and genomics. Various techniques I have implemented during my career can be briefly categorized under microbiology, enzyme and protein biochemistry, spectroscopic analysis (FT-IR), liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry (LC-MS), transcriptomics (RNA-Seq and Micro-array), and genomics.
