English is spoken to varying degrees by about a fifth of the world's population and English-language culture affects almost every person on earth.
Studying English at Mid Sweden University provides sought-after speaking, writing and analytical skills, as well as a deep insight into the social structure of English-speaking countries. Such knowledge, insights and skills are increasingly important wherever you work.
You can study English in full semesters or choose shorter courses such as Business Writing. There are suitable courses for those who have a strong interest in the English language or English literature, society and culture, or want to improve their secondary school English. The basic education in English is offered as stand-alone courses. A large part of the courses can also be studied at a distance without physical meetings, i.e. online.
English can be studied at three basic levels (A, B and C), and at advanced level, i.e. at Master's level. The A course focuses on grammar analysis, the study of the contemporary literature, culture and society of English-speaking countries, and oral and written language skills. The B course takes a general linguistic perspective on the language, highlights the study of literature from a transatlantic and global perspective, and further develops skill training and analytical abilities. The C course deepens your knowledge of and in language and literature and sharpens your ability to think critically through the study of both linguistic disciplines and literary theories. The course also includes the writing of a scientific essay. The undergraduate and graduate courses can also be taken remotely, without physical meetings with the student.
