Educational research focuses on issues of teaching and learning. Mathematics and Science Education thus focuses on questions about teaching and learning that are particularly relevant to the specific subject content, for example based on the characteristics of the subject. Mathematics and Science Education can thus be said to constitute a bridge between the content of the subject on the one hand, and studies and theories about learning and teaching processes on the other hand.
At Mid Sweden University, research is conducted in several areas within Mathematics and Science Education. For example, there is research focusing on different aspects of language and communication, research focusing on systematic and large-scale evaluations, and several projects are practice-based, that is, they take place in close collaboration with municipalities, schools, or teachers.
