Research
In the Department of Education Science, Education is the academic main subject. Education as a science discipline has as its chief task to describe, understand and explain influence processes such as nurture, education and teaching and learning within a social context.
Among those employed at the Department of Education, we have one professor, twelve lecturers with PhDs, among which three have Assistant Professor (Docent) competence, and we also have ten doctoral students. Four of them were accepted to Mid Sweden University’s newly started third cycle (research) programme in Education in the autumn of 2007. This programme falls within the responsibility of The Education and Research Board for Teacher Training. Of the six remaining doctoral students, five are affiliated with the research programme at Umeå University and one with Linköping University.
