Master in Tourism
The Master in Tourism program at Mid Sweden University concentrates on sustainability issues, destination development, management of natural and cultural resources, and the challenges of tourism in an “experience” society.
During their program of study, students may also pursue professional internships or academic exchanges. Graduates of the program are well positioned to enter the private tourism sector, work for a governmental or not-for-profit organization, as well as pursue further study.
Tourism studies at Mid Sweden University in close collaboration with the European Tourism Research Institute (ETOUR) and is the most well-established tourism research program in Sweden. Our professors and senior lecturers conduct research on a wide range of issues including e-tourism, outdoor recreation and nature/culture-based tourism, pop culture tourism, labour market and business issues, event management, and use of innovation in tourism development and management.
Offered at the University’s Östersund campus, students have access to a variety of year-round outdoor activities including alpine and cross-country skiing, hiking, and cycling. Östersund has also been recently recognized for its commitment to sustainability, outdoor recreation, and gastronomy.
