Symposium Theme
On one hand, tourism continues to be an important sector as countries everywhere move quickly to recover from the economic challenges wrought by the COVID-19 pandemic. On the other hand, unmitigated and unmanaged tourism development brings real sustainability challenges for host communities, transport systems, and the global climate system.
Given these challenges, the symposium will be themed Rethinking Tourism for a Sustainable Future and provide a venue for critical examination of these topics. The conference also directly supports young scholars by offering a PhD course in advance of the conference (18 September 2023).
